Meditation Room: Your Little Retreat

A space that has already been used for meditation will have a high energy level, which will help you meditate better.  It is better to meditate in the same place everyday.  The space will register the imprint of the positive energy generated during meditation.  After a while, whenever you enter that space an uplifting feeling of peace and joy can be felt.  Entering into meditation will be easier in that space.  We sometimes have 2 or 3 bathroom, bedroom, kitchen, living room.  Why not set aside a small spot for meditation only.  Choose a clean, uncluttered space, with plenty of ventilation.  You can also meditate outdoor in a meditation gazebo or meditation hut if there is no room or it's too noisy in the house.

It can be just a corner in your bedroom

Or a simple room with cushions and candles

Right Effort

It is important to apply effort in a balanced way, not too lax and not too tense. Setting aside enough time for personal meditation retreat everyday is very important.  Usually, the mind just settles a little then our busy interaction stirs it up again. It then takes a while to settle, but before long it gets stirs up by interaction and activities.  The lifestyle similar to the set up of a retreat is ideal, because it is possible to allow the mind to settle and build up energy without interruption.  But, if that is not possible then the next best thing is to set aside time to be in silence and turning within .  However, your retreat routine needs to be put together in a way that is  enjoyable. Otherwise, you will not stick to it.
